About Our Hunts:
There are two secluded draws of the Palo Duro Canyon entering the ranch with multiple active springs providing water for rich diverse wildlife. The terrain on the ranch ranges from native and improved grass prairies to brushy flat and canyon land. Multiple winter wheat fields attract deer and hogs in the winter as well as quail and dove in the fall. Mule deer, Aoudad sheep or Barbary sheep, wild boar, coyote, gray fox, dove and quail are plentiful on the ranch. With every year the population of whitetailed deer on the ranch continues to rise. Hunts for whitetailed deer are not yet available but we hope to offer these prime hunts in the future. Efforts are underway to improve Rio Grande Turkey and Ringneck Pheasant habitat on the ranch. Hopefully, hunts for these bird species will be available in the near future. We offer many different hunting packages. Our fully guided hunts are a favorite and include accommodations in our first class lodge on the rim of the Palo Duro Canyon. These hunts are all inclusive and are an affordable hunt compared to surrounding ranches. Our goal is to provide an affordable rugged hunting experience without sacrificing good service and amenities.
Aoudad Sheep Hunting:Our Aoudad hunts can be held year round but the preferred period is in the cooler months from October to March. Texas is home to multiple free range herds of Aoudad sheep. The Palo Duro Canyon has an abundant and healthy herd of free range Aoudad sheep or Barbary sheep. Rams in excess of 30 inches have been taken on the ranch. These are rugged hunts requiring good physical conditioning. The elevation in the canyon can drop 700 feet or more in some areas and a 2-mile stalk is not uncommon in the steep terrain. This is truly a memorable hunt and one of our favorite here at the ranch. This hunt is every bit as challenging as hunting for the four species of native North American sheep but a lot cheaper! Our Aoudad hunts are fully guided, all inclusive and a very affordable hunt! Mule Deer Hunting:
Wild Boar Hunting:The dense brush of the canyon provides ample cover for a thriving population of wild boar. In the last several years the hog numbers have exploded. It is not uncommon to see as many as 20 to 40 hogs in a day of hunting. Boar in excess of 200 pounds are routinely taken at our ranch. Wild boar hunting takes place year round. These hunts are mainly spot and stalk or sitting over feeders, whatever you prefer. We offer fully guided, all inclusive packages for wild boar. Predator Hunting:
Dove and Quail Hunting:Our fields boast excellent dove and native bobwhite quail hunting with limit shoots common. Dove and quail hunting is during the scheduled season set by the State of Texas. We feel our daily rates provide an affordable hunt experience. New for this year is the fully guided/all inclusive Weekend Dove hunt. This is great for those hunters who like to get pampered and have a great weekend of wing shooting and story telling! |
